Mr. President,

My delegation welcomes H. E. Ms.  Tan Yee Woan, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Singapore and thanks her for the updates regarding the human rights situation in her country since the presentation of the national report the UPR last May.

Singapore attained important achievements in terms of economic growth and social development. This has had a positive impact on the enjoyment of human rights by its population in different areas.

We hope the government will continue its efforts to promote harmony between the different components of the country's diverse society. This is crucial aspect for sustained development.

During the interactive dialogue, the Algerian delegation formulated four recommendations in favour of the promotion of racial and religious tolerance, the advancement of the role of women in public life and the ratification of the ICERD, ICRPD and ICRMW.

We thank Singapore for accepting our recommendations. Specifically, we would appreciate it if the delegation could provide us with a clear response regarding the ratification of ICMW.

Finally we wish all success to the Government of Singapore in implementing the accepted recommendations.

Thank you.
